Doha, Qatar: The Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition celebrated the National Day of the Republic of Chad, in the presence of Minister of Municipality and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Horticultural Expo Doha 2023, H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Minister of Production and Agricultural Transformation of the Republic of Chad H E Keda Ballah, Secretary-General of the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha, Mohammed Ali Al Khouri and a number of guests and senior figures.
The celebration featured several cultural and artistic activities that reflected the African heritage, as attendees enjoyed live cultural performances that reflected the Chad culture. The Chad Pavilion organised performances of the rich traditions of the country and presented a range of exhibits reflecting its diverse heritage.
The pavilion focuses on Chad's agricultural experience and sustainability plans, making it a platform to educate visitors about agricultural practices and how to move towards a more sustainable future. It also highlights the African country’s unique historical and cultural richness stemming from its depth and regional surroundings due to its geographical location in the middle of the African continent.
The pavilion, located in the International Zone at the Expo in Al Bidda Park, offers glimpses of this diversity resulting from the uniqueness of the Chad environment which includes a sandy desert, mountains, and the savannah forests. All of these make up a beautiful natural mosaic reflecting the diversity of the country.
The Chad pavilion presents various products from the local environment, which mostly depend on skilled labour producing handicrafts, such as leather shoes, coats, library and household tools, and decorative tools.
The pavilion also presents medicinal herbal products extracted from local plants, used in simple treatments for colds and headaches.
It also sheds light on the enormous livestock that the country possesses, which is an important source of meat in Central and West Africa. The pavilion also highlights the tourism sector and the progress it is witnessing, in light of the availability of various tourist destinations.
