Municipality Ministry opens three parks including Al Wakra Public Park

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality in cooperation with Public Works Authority (Ashghal) yesterday opened three parks – Al Wakra Public Park, Al Mashaf Park, and Rawdat Egdaim Park.

Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Eng Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, inaugurated Al Wakra Public Park in its new look. The opening ceremony was attended by Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, Director General of Al Wakra Municipality, and several officials from Al Wakra Municipality and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).

In the same context, the Ministry inaugurated Al Mashaf Park, which is located within Al Wakra Municipality.

Rawdat Egdaim Park was also opened in the presence of Director General of Al Rayyan Municipality Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, and several municipality officials.

Al Karani said that the opening of the three parks comes within the framework of implementing the Ministry of Municipality’s 2023-2024 strategy, which is based on enhancing environmental sustainability, expanding green spaces, and providing integrated recreational facilities that contribute to raising the quality of life and are in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Buainain said that Rawdat Egdaim Park is not just a green space, but rather a qualitative addition that enhances the quality of life and provides the residents of the area with an ideal place to relax, exercise, and enjoy the nature.”

Al Jaber said: “Today we open Al Wakra Public Park, a green oasis pulsating with life and a destination that brings families together in a sustainable environment that reflects Qatar’s vision for the future.”

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada, Director of the Public Parks Department, said: “The Ministry of Municipality seeks to enhance green spaces and raise the quality of life, and the opening of these parks is a distinctive step towards a more sustainable and prosperous environment for the community.”

Head of the City Beautification Projects Implementation Team and Director of the Technical Office at Ashghal, said the opening of these parks comes within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to increase the green area and promote sustainable development.

Director of Buildings Projects Department at Ashghal Eng. Jarallah Mohamed Al Marri, explained that within the framework of the ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality, the rehabilitation of Al Wakra Public Park has been completed with an advanced design so that the park becomes an integrated model destination that meets the needs of all visitors.

Al Wakra Public Park extends over a total area of 46,601 sqm, of which 31,585 sqm (62%) are allocated as green spaces, reflecting the country’s commitment to providing sustainable natural environments that support quality of life. 

Al Mashaf Park has a total area of 4,741 sqm, making it one of the most prominent recreational destinations in Al Wukair area. 

The park includes a large green area of 2,648 sqm, creating an ideal environment to enjoy nature. The park is decorated with 97 trees, which enhances its natural beauty and adds an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility. Rawdat Egdaim Park is one of the most prominent recreational landmarks in one of the neighborhoods within the borders of Al Rayyan Municipality, as it extends over a total area of 24,000 sqm, providing ample space for visitors to enjoy various activities.
