The Pearl Island has created a distinctive shopping experience for the community with varieties of goods available at the Eid market.

Products on display include authentic cultural cuisines and beverages, crafts and artworks, varieties of perfumes, jewellery, and other essential accessories.

Visiting the market, The Peninsula spoke with several retailers asking them about their experience as they prepared to receive visitors in one of the unique leisure destinations in Qatar.

Rosa Silva, Founder and Designer at Luna Lia Atelier, said: “For us, it’s been a period of blooming during seasons such as Eid, where we get to see many customers coming to our market.”

The Portuguese outlet offers numerous products including bean bags, smartphone holders, handbags, pillow bags, and bibs ranging from QR30 to QR300.

“The sales are going well now that it is more convenient for customers to purchase their valuables in this market, which offers a wide range of customary goods,” she added.

A large number of people were seen visiting the market, which has more than 15 cultural and traditional shops. A salesman at Jool Jewellers said although the main branch is located at Landmark Doha, a higher number of customers are approaching the Eid market at The Pearl.

He said: “Our jewellery products include 21-karat gold and diamonds, with additional offers. We are optimistic about the business as it keeps increasing every day with more people coming to the market than in our main stores.

“At the Eid market we see a good crowd maybe after 6pm or 6.30pm and we are happy to attract so many people with our offers and products.”

The island spans four kilometres and has a mixture of Arabic, Mediterranean, and European cultures in its residential areas similar to the Eid valuables sold in the market.

“All of the art you see here is my handiwork as I drew these pictures and made them with a passion for craftwork,” said Elsy Tabet Yazbeck, an art instructor at a school in Doha.

Displaying hand-decorated valuables from customised resin art to golden trays, Yazbeck has developed innovative mini sculptures for those loving creativity in its finest form. “Thanks to the United Development Company for giving me this opportunity to showcase my talents and work. I just teach art but right now, I can profit out of my own creation and a lot of people appreciate me,” he said.

Situated in 2-7 La Croisette, Porto Arabia, The Pearl Qatar, the Eid shopping festival will run until April 29 daily from 5pm to midnight.
