Doha: On its weather report for the weekend, Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) forecast misty to foggy weather conditions at first followed by moderate temperature during daytime and cold nights. QMD also warned about poor visibility and strong wind on both days.

The temperature for the weekend will vary between 16 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius.

In a post on Twitter, QMD also mentioned that maximum temperatures are expected to rise until Saturday afternoon as a result of deepened Sudan depression over the region which leads to shift of the wind toward southwest direction and causing a rise in maximum temperature ranging between 25-30 degrees Celsius.

However, cold temperatures at night will remain and range between 10-18 degrees Celsius, reaching less than that in southern and remote areas of the country.

The wind will blow mainly southeasterly on Friday and southerly to southwesterly at 8-18 KT turning to northwesterly reaching 21 KT on Saturday.

During the weekend, sea heights will also vary between 1-2 ft inshore and will reach to 4ft at times offshore. On both days, the visibility will range between 4-8 / 2-3 kilometres or less at places at first.

QMD has also shared a forecast from January 30 (Saturday) stating that fresh to strong northwesterly winds are expected until the middle of next week, with wind speed ranging between 12-22 KT gusting to 25 KT at times. This can also be accompanied by slight dust at some places.

"It is expected that the marine warning will continue until Tuesday (February 2) where the wind offshore expected to range between 18-25 KT with wind gust reaching 35 KT some times," QMD added.

Wave heights from Saturday will range between 5-8 FT rising to 13 FT in some areas.

Cooler temperatures can also be expected from Saturday afternoon, with the lowest temperature ranging to 7-17 degrees Celsius and the highest between 19-24 degrees Celsius.
