Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has offered an opportunity to sponsor some students who attended Engineering Day of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, held yesterday in Education City, where the top ten students in the State of Qatar were identified to benefit from scholarships and other opportunities available at Qatar Foundation and Hamad Bin Khalifa University specifically.
Dr. Maryam Al Mannai, Vice-President for Student Affairs at HBKU, said the event was unique, as the top ten students were hosted in public and private schools to provide them with the opportunity to introduce HBKU’s engineering programmes.
She pointed out that providing the opportunity for Qataris to introduce engineering on this day comes firstly because of the importance of engineering in the local market in the State of Qatar, and secondly to allow Qatari men and women as well as residents of the State of Qatar to enrol in the programmes that we have at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, explaining that the university has 50,000 applications to join the university, which is distinguished by being part of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
She explained that what distinguishes the programmes at the university is that they are compatible with the local market, as the university offers programmes after consulting with the Ministry of Labour and the local market to identify the extent of the local market’s needs, explaining that there is great competition now in the State of Qatar with other universities. In addition, several students nominated for admission confirmed their keenness and passion for studying engineering and their desire to benefit from the many scholarships provided by the sponsors. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Ministry Interior and Qatar Energy attended the programme.
They confirmed their sponsorship of students nominated for the engineering programme at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), according to Mohamed Ibrahim Al Mohsen, Scholarship Coordinator at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
