Doha: Arab Scientific Community Organization (ArSCO) has announced the winners of the ArSCO Award 2020. Eighty-eight researchers from 13 countries participated in the Award. The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the organisation.
The Award aims to encourage innovation in sustainable projects for practical solutions to many environmental challenges in the Arab region. This year’s topic was devoted to the environment under the theme, “Innovative Scientific and Practical Solutions to Arab Environmental Problems.”
On behalf of Dr. Moza bint Mohammad Al Rabban, President of the Arab Scientific Community Organization, the Awards were presented by Khalid bin Khalifa Al Rabban, member of the Board of the Rabban Foundation for Studies and Research in a ceremony organised yesterday at the Sheraton Hotel.
The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Sultanate of Oman won the first place in institutions category for its project, titled: “Industrial Coral Reefs.”
Meanwhile, a Palestinian young man Salah Essadi from Gaza Strip, won the first place in the individual category. He won the award for his project titled, “Treating Drinking Water and Irrigation Using Green Technology.” The Award’s total value is $10.000 (QR36,500) divided equally between two categories.
ArSCO President Dr. Moza bint Mohammad Al Rabban said: “The Award embodies the organization’s goals to create a scientific community and an Arab renaissance in all fields. About 90 projects have been submitted from 13 Arab countries, including individual projects and projects by public and private institutions.
The ArSCO Award is an initiative that enhances empowerment of the Arab scientific community everywhere. The organization was founded in 2010 and it began its activities in early 2011.
The Arab Scientific Community Organization, with its headquarters in Doha, is an Arab and Islamic civilisation project that seeks to reconsider science and its practice as an essential part of the nation’s culture. It is an independent organization that does not seek financial profit or profit from its initiatives.
