Art and journalism came together on July 23 during the launch of Qatar’s only homegrown English language lifestyle magazine BQ Plus’ (July-August) issue, at the hands of celebrated Qatari artist Ahmed Al Maadheed of the Tamim Al Majd unity icon fame.
This ubiquitous mural or unity icon of Qatar has catapulted its creator, Ahmed, to the heights of instant fame, and in keeping with its dynamic editorial policy, BQ Plus was quick to do an exclusive interview for the magazine.
In this interview the talented young artist talks about his art, motivation, lifestyle and interests. Featured prominently on the magazine’s cover, Ahmed was the cynosure of all eyes at the event, held at the head office of Gulf Star Group, publisher of BQ Plus and its sister business publication, BQ Business Magazine.
The launch celebrations included an unveiling of the BQ Plus publicity hoarding and the latest magazine by Ahmed. This was followed by cutting of the BQ Plus special cake, featuring the latest magazine cover, by Khaled Al Hammadi, Naveed, Ahmed, Mohammed Mansour Rashid Al Khater and Khalid Mubarak Al Buainain.
Al Khater, Gulf Star Group’s Chairman, presented a commemorative plaque to Ahmed, commending him for giving the world Tamim Al Majd.
