Today the unjust siege imposed on Qatar by four countries (three of them are members of the so called the Gulf organization – GCC) has completed its first year. Reasons are fabricated, unrealistic and were basically derived by the mood and personal desires of the leaders of those countries. Whatever analysts have said about the siege and reasons behind it, they will remain mere allegations and its motives to remain a secret untill further notice.

The unjust siege wanted to collapse the State of Qatar and impose control over it to marginalise the state in the world map. However, as the proverb says “winds blow opposite to direction in which ship sails”, as they have been disappointed with outcome of their action against Qatar which turned the conspiracy into victory. Qatar has successfully overcome all possible implications of the siege in all aspects.

There were many talks in the siege media and electronic flies claimed that Qatar had been put under prison, while on the contrary the people of Qatar used the siege as a point to achieve self-reliance and dealt with all countries on equal footing without any barriers or preconditions. Qatar deals with the free world on the basis of equality and win-win basis.

In fact, the blockade has become source of dignity and pride for everyone living in Qatar. One of the great achievements for Qataris was to reassure their national loyalty, unity and they are standing firmly behind the leadership of the country as the siege has strongly stirred national sentiment.  The leadership has taken a balanced stand between the aspiration and dignity of its people; and its international commitments and compliance to global conventions and agreements.

The crisis was not Qatar’s choice but it has been pushed to this fabricated crisis, and has no choice except to defend its sovereignty and maintain its existence. Qatar did not shut down doors on its brothers, rather it has been continuously calling for an open dialogue and reconciliation on the basis of the initiative of the Amir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, who is working tirelessly to end this crisis.

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had told the CBS News’ 60 Minutes, “We want the crisis to end. Believe me we want it to end. But nothing is going to be above our dignity, our sovereignty. I always say that. If they are going to walk one meter toward me, I’m willing to walk 10,000 miles towards them”.

Therefore, I would like to assure that whether the siege continues or not, it will not hinder Qatar’s leadership and its people from heading towards nation building and work for their future. Qataris have portrayed beautiful images of loyalty, dignity and steadfastness and it will be engraved in golden letters with the best wishes of success and dedication. Long Live Qatar.
