Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi
Is there a reasonable explanation for what is happening in the Arab world these days?
Whenever freedom and democracy are demanded, tyranny becomes stronger and dictatorship prevails.
And when people call for a civilian rule and civil society, military authorities pull ahead and overpower religious ideologies.
The mental status in the Arab world has reached its lowest levels, because people are not only defending regimes that are destroying and preying in Iraq and Syria, but also defending the enemy, justifying his assault on occupied lands and giving him political and religious legitimacy so that he can kill and displace innocent people.
The kind of thinking that is being produced by the Arab brain, according to Abdelelah Belkziz, relies on passion instead of the mind and fantasy and imaginations instead of the reality on the ground, so it needs to break all collars to enter a new epoch, new history, form a new speech that has its stature, features and grounds.
This is the problem the Arab mind has been facing and could not overcome until today.
The Moroccan thinker, Belkziz, said the Arab mind is not just a meaningless saying or an ideological slogan to commend or condemn, however, it is a set of concepts and brain activities that control visions and attitudes towards various things and ways to deal with different issues to acquire knowledge, produce and reproduce it.
Mohamed Abed Al Jabry also came to a similar conclusion in his analysis of the Arab mind.
The Arab mind, which is represented by the way of thinking process, is based on reaction that is related to a structural damage, according to Belkziz, as the reaction is an unfree practice that makes the way of thinking an extremism nature.
This leads to a contradictory, rambling and inconsistent way of thinking that does not have referral link with non-historical features in light of the constant tension.
Therefore, it is not strange to see all these contradictions control the Arab mind and aims, whether done consciously and unconsciously.
It is not strange to witness it looking for principles of freedom, justice and democracy at the beginning of the day, and then glorifying and commending the dictatorial power and practices tyranny at the end.
Just have a look at the Arab world from the West to the East to discover that the differences are in the quantity, not the quality.
