The speech of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening session of Munich Security Conference is not the first in which the H H expressed Qatar’s position after the unjust siege, but it is the second one after the dignity speech at the opening session of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in September last in New York.
Looking at the content of the speech one can find it complementing the clear vision of Qatar about the current Gulf crisis. The speech showed that Qatar’s position has not changed since the crisis began nine months ago.
The speech encapsulated what is going on in the minds of every Qatari and attracted the attention of every person following the crisis. H H the Emir said the Gulf crisis is “a futile crisis manufactured by our neighbours”.
Thus H H reiterated the Qatari position that affirms no compromise on national sovereignty which is not negotiable. The Emir emphasised that the firmness of Qatar regarding the siege has not changed; the siege has failed and it does not affect the march of Qatar and its development.
Qatar welcomes agreements which engage all countries and this is what he called for when invited for security agreement that involves all states in the region to maintain security and stability citing experience of the European Union.
The Emir has attended four international and regional events from which the leaders of the siege counties were absent, including the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, Gulf summit in Kuwait, Islamic summit on Jerusalem in Istanbul and the current Munich Security Conference.
This shows that H H the Emir is keen to explain Qatari position and views as well shows that Qatar is doing better and is moving towards the future steadily and with confidence. We learn dignity, openness, credibility and confidence from his speech. The speech included a number of suggestions to countries of the region to discuss the future of the region, to distance themselves from undermining the security and elimination of terrorism requires ending injustice.
A strong speech included many indications which need to be looked at carefully and learn from the experiences of others by abstaining from bullying behaviour which has become a part of history. Also, to give priority to the interests of the people and their future, introduce reforms to the regimes to protect rights and ensure justice.
Finally, these few words are not enough to contain the speech of H H the Emir even if we write many analyses and explanations but we have learned much from it and we are inspired by his enlightened vision and ideas of H H the Emir promoting the people and nations to enjoy advancement, stability and security; but is there any response from blockading countries?
I would like to emphasise that saying “Qatar became stronger after blockade” is enough to look into what will Doha be in future under the leadership of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Words of loyalty and glorification are the least from Qatari people to their Emir who raised the position of Qatar among the countries of the world. In short we would like to say that Qatar will remain the Oasis of peace and security.
