Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani completes ten years since he assumed the reins of power in the country, succeeding Father Amir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The decade was full of achievements where H H the Amir assumed the governance and Qatar remained at the height of its prosperity, reputation, and international status. Qatar reached these positions with the grace of Allah Almighty, and due to the efforts and vision of H H the Father Amir, the founder of modern Qatar.
This position had many additions and follow-ups during which H H the Amir dealt with several thorny issues with the utmost skill, competence, and wisdom. It starts with the differences in viewpoints of the Gulf countries, in 2014, pertaining to a number of international issues, followed by the Gulf crisis and the blockade of Qatar in 2017, and then the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.
And finally, the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, in addition to some local and global issues.
Without going into details of each case or event and how H H the Amir managed these issues with skill and leadership, I can say that the wisdom of H H the Amir became lessons for resolving issues with successes and achievements that took place during the decade of good governance.
H H the Father Amir, who moved Qatar from local to global and modernity and played a key role in Qatar’s strong presence on the stage of world politics, is the role model for H H the Amir. We in Qatar, during these ten years, have seen many local and global developments and Qatar has witnessed comprehensive development in various fields. We are still witnessing the fruits of this tireless work through which our country has become a world icon and a figure that cannot be overlooked at global forums.
His Highness ensured public participation in policymaking through the Shura Council elections in October 2021. With this election, the constitution, which the people of Qatar voted for in high percentage, was implemented. We cannot sum up all the developments during the era of H H the Amir here as we refer to the years of prosperity and victory for Qatar and its people in most spheres of life. Mentioning the various events and developments requires a lot to be written about, but it is sufficient to refer to the intelligence and skill of H H the Amir in dealing with each of them.
Achievements and stances have made Qatar an honest mediator in dark circumstances, and everyone has seen Qatar as a safe haven for issues of the international community whenever they become unmanageable. Qatar has achieved advanced positions in global competitiveness indicators. This came with a lot of work, effort, honesty and trust.
This global Qatari balance is becoming increasingly diversified politically, economically, and socially. We are still working under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani towards improving Qatar’s position on the global map and keeping pace with developed countries in various fields.
The Qatar of today is not like the Qatar of yesterday. Successes and developments are racing against time. These ten years is an imprint of H H the Amir’s work under exceptional circumstances, during which he successfully led Qatar towards security and safety. The Amir revealed the bright image of his people and made them proud among the nations.
This is what reminds us of the moment when H H addressed his people and the world from the platform of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in 2017 where he expressed his love to his people and his people’s love for him. Those are the morals of our leader, H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The results of the ten years reflect the people’s love for their leader, H H the Amir. Qatar is moving with confident footsteps towards diversifying its resources and investments. May Allah bless Qatar and its Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with success and many years of glory and giving.
