Doha: Al Brenes Stud’s Doghan yesterday stormed to Lehwaila Cup triumph as jockey Faleh Bughanaim claimed a hat-trick of wins at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday.
The Owaida Salem Al Hajri-trained five-year-old wrapped up the eight-race Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s 37th Race Meeting with a commanding three-length win in yesterday’s feature - a 1200m Handicap (70-90) for 4YO+ Local Thoroughbreds.
Earlier, there was another wide margin victory in the 1900m Maiden for 4-6YO Purebred Arabians and it was for Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Malikah under Bughanaim, who galloped home eight lengths clear for trainer Eric Lemartinel.
Bughanaim clinched his first win of the day when he rode Hamad Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani-owned Hardan to 1200m Handicap (0-90) for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians victory by two lengths.
