DOHA: Inspectors from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday conducted raids on different outlets in Al Khor and Al Shamal areas which resulted in registering several violations of consumer rights law (Law No. 8/2008).
Raids on shops and food outlets and commercial activity centres ended in registering 42 violations, the ministry said in release yesterday. Inspector caught 32 violations in Al Khor City and 10 in Al Shamal.
The campaigns covered fish outlets, fishing instrument shops, restaurants and computer and electricity equipment shops. The nature of violations varied from lack of price list or label displays, selling items at higher prices (at prices different from what have been announced or the actual price) to not using Arabic language on price lists and not issuing bills after sales. According to the statement, punishments ranged from full or partial closure of the errant shops to fines from QR3,000 to QR1m.
