Francis and Murray to be brand ambassadors for Doha Dash

DOHA: Qatari sprinter Samuel Francis and British Olympic silver medallist Samantha Murray have been named as the brand ambassadors for the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash.

The event which takes place on February 12 at Losail International Circuit, will include a 5km and 3km timed race as well as 1km ladies’ walk and a mini Doha Dash, in celebration of Qatar National Sport Day.

Francis, who has been competing on an international level for Qatar since 2007, specialises in the 100m and hold as personal best time record of 9.99 seconds. He is the current Asian record holder. He was also a finalist in the World Indoor Championship held in Doha in 2010 and a semi-finalist in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Speaking of his role as brand ambassador, he said: “I am delighted to be an official ambassador of the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash and can’t wait to meet all of the runners and spectators on February 12.”

“It is an exciting event, bringing together experienced and amateur runners, and carries a significant message about the importance of healthy living for the Qatari and expatriate community of Doha,” he added.

Meanwhile, Murray is a world champion and multiple world Cup medallist. 

At the young age of 23, Murray has risen quickly through the world rankings and has made a strong name for herself in the world of athletics.

Murray is best known for winning a silver medal in the modern pentathlon event of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

Francis will attend the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash as an ambassador to promote exercise and healthy living, provide tips and advice and highlight the importance of Qatar National Sport Day. 

Alongside Francis, attendees of the event will have the opportunity to meet Olympic modern pentathlete, Murray. 

On becoming a brand ambassador for the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash this year, Murray said: “I am very excited to be visiting Qatar as an ambassador for the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash and promoting Qatar National Sport Day.”

The Dolphin Energy Doha Dash has been created to support the vision behind the Qatar National Sport Day, and aims to promote a healthier lifestyle and raise money for charity.
