Qatar’s Flotilla wins Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

California, USA:  Two-year-old filly Flotilla, owned by the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad  bin Khalifa Al Thani, won the prestigious Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf race by a length and a quarter at Santa Anita racetrack in Arcadia, California.

The jockey of the winning horse was French-born Christophe Lemaire. He has had major wins across the world in France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Japan, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.

Lemaire won the 2011 Melbourne Cup in Australia. 

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is a one mile turf stakes race for thoroughbred fillies two years old.  This year’s event was the fifth meeting of the race. The first race took place in 2008 at Santa Anita Park.

The $25.5m race is held on an annual basis and will continue until next Saturday.  QNA
