In a thrilling race over 1400m on turf, jockey Lukas Delozier guided Mohammed Abdulhadi Al Hajri’s Stylish Performer to a stunning win at Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club’s Al Rayyan racecourse, yesterday.
The Hamad Al Jehani-trained Stylish Performer (IRE) (Dandy Man), pushed hard by Delozier, broke from the outside towards the final hundred metres and kept up the charge to land the Al Busayyir Cup by one and a half lengths in QREC’s 26th Race Meeting.
QREC Racing Manager Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi crowned the winners of the Al Busayyir Cup.
Earlier in the day, a blanket finish saw Umm Qarn’s Bachra (FR) (Munjiz) come out on top in the 1750m Purebred Arabian Handicap (0-95), completing a hat-trick in her fifth outing.
Trainer Alban de Mieulle recorded his 2nd win on the card as the 5YO won by a neck under Meteb Al Saaq.Eng. Hassan Ali Alabdulma-lik’s Vedute (IRE) (Holy Roman Emperor) regains winning thread in the 1200m Thor-oughbred Handicap (0-95).
Eduardo Pedroza partnered the Debbie Mountain-trained 4YO to pick up impressively and win by half a length at the line.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalid Bin Nasser Al Thani’s Saoud Al Sulaimi (QA) (T M Fred Texas) won the 1500m Purebred Arabian Handicap (0-80).
The Jassim Ghazali-trained 6YO came with an eye-catching late sweeping run to win by a length under Ronan Thomas.
Faleh Suwayed AL Ajami’s Cloak And Dagger (IRE) (Lope De Vega) returned to winning ways as he landed the 1750m Thoroughbred Handicap (0-80).
Under Qais Al Busaidi, the Mohammed Ghazali-saddled 6YO held a handy lead and won with 1¼ lengths to spare.

The Mohamed Khaled Elahmed-trained 5YO mare cruised into the lead to win by two lengths. Kicking off Al Busayyir Cup Day was Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS Barood (QA) (Highland Reel) with a sensational performance in the 1200m Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate as he bolted up under Szczepan Mazur for trainer Mohammed H.K. Al Attiyah, scoring by 13 lengths.
