Doha: Cyrine Cherif guided Obama to impressive Big Tour victory as seventh round of the 14-leg Qatar Equestrian Tour - Longines Hathab concluded yesterday.
The French rider and the nine-year-old bay combined to clock times of 81.47 seconds in the first round and then 40.23 in the jump off to win the title after showcasing flawless performance at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s Indoor Arena.
Faleh Suwead Al Ajami, who teamed up with 14-year-old Crispo, took second position as the pair registered a faultless time of 44.52 in the jump off after clocking 81.28 without dropping a rail in the first round.
Mohammed Khalifa Albaker, who led 16-year-old Verona, had a bright start with an error-free 80.54 in the first round but four faults in the jump off in which he clocked 40.13 confined him to third place.
Securing fourth position in the event was Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi, who rode Morocco, also made four faults in the jump off he finished in 40.38 after a flawless round of 81.32.
Head of the Judging Committee Ahmad Al Badawi and Manager of Future Riders School Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri awarded the podium winners of the QR60,000 event.

Meanwhile, Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi riding 14-year-old Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun emerged winner of the Open Class with error-free times of 37.72 and 28.76 in the two rounds.
Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi on QEF-owned Mira V/D Roshoeve finished runner-up with times of 39.43 and 29.10 in the two rounds.
Ghanim was outstanding in the competition as he also secured third position in the contest riding Quick Step to flawless rounds of 40.11 and 30.09.
Faleh (39.53 and 32.80) rode Fiori LS to fourth position while Jodie Anne Leeder (37.93 and 33.21) claimed fifth position with B Chelsea S.
Also yesterday, Mohammed Abdulla Al Marri clinched the Future Riders Level 1 title followed by Ibrahim Mohammed Al Zeyara and Amna Jassim AlSumaiti.
The Future Riders Level 2 was won by Mariam Abdulkarim Abed with Ali Abdullah Al Muhannadi and Jassim Abdullah Shaibani finishing second and third respectively.
