Doha: With an aim to inspire the youth of Qatar, seven students from different schools have collaborated to organize a conference with an aim to develop, connect and empower the youth to positively impact their communities through learning from Qatar’s change-makers.

The upcoming Qatar Youth Power Conference is ready to welcome young leaders with an array of interactive workshops, keynotes, and panel discussions ranging from sports, entrepreneurship, art, environment, social media, and more.

To be held virtually from June 10 to 11, the conference is free of charge and is open for participants aged 11 to 25 years old.

The founder, Natalie Magness, a Malaysian 17-year-old student at Doha British School, shared that her "inspiration for the QYP Conference stems from the urgent need for youth to be a beacon of change."

"Youth hold so much potential to be powerful drivers of change. And the best thing is, you don’t need to hold a certain position, have years of experience, have high-profile connections or lots of money. All you need is a passion," Magness shared with The Peninsula.

She also mentioned that the seven-membered team behind the QYP Conference was formed by reaching out to her colleagues and pitching the idea to them, which eventually came to fruition.

The event will bring together 30 notable speakers from diverse fields including Khalifa Al Haroon, Hamad Al Amari, Dr M Evren Tok, Dr Ameena Hussein and many other personalities.

Magness said: "Our change-makers are diverse in their spheres but united in the mission of empowering Qatar’s future generations to take initiative to positively impact the community."

Ahead of the conference, the team also shared a message for the youth.

"Anything is possible. Find a cause that resonates with you, educate yourself on it, speak to your friends and family and be creative! Unique and original ideas are more important now than ever before as issues in our society become increasingly interlinked and complex. Lastly, don't be afraid to make mistakes. You are young for a reason!," the team said.

To be held via Zoom from June 10 to 11, the conference is free of charge and is open for participants aged 11 to 25 years old. QYP Conference only requires registration through this link  and once registered, the participant will receive a confirmation email as well as the official conference Zoom link.
