Doha: Qatari rider Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi yesterday guided Vivaldi K in a flawless routine to capture the top honours on day one of the 7th round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour by winning the Medium class. He was also part of Team Al Salam, which won the Medium Tour Team Event yesterday. 

At the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s main arena, Al Rumaihi’s favourite gelding topped a field of 35 horses by completing two special phases with times of 45.42 and 30.91 secs in the individual event, making no mistakes. That made Al Rumaihi richer by QR5,000. 

Fiji, with Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi in the saddle, completed the two phases with no errors by clocking 46.14 and 31.66 to win the second place and a prize cheque worth QR4,000. Alegro 84, ridden by Mohammed Al Ghazali, booked the remaining spot on the podium with two rides that lasted 45.20 and 32.46 secs. Ghazali, who was also part of Team Al Salam, made no mistakes during his routine and he won QR3,000 in prize money.

In the team event, Al Rumaihi and Al Ghazai were joined by Khalifa Abdulla Al Khaldi who guided Fantastique, an eight-year-old bay gelding. Team Al Salam won a prize cheque for QR10,000 for their winning effort.

Team Porsche whish had the services of Cyrine Cherif (Gerlin VD Waterkant), Hussain Saeed Haidan (Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof) and Sheikha Fatima Jabor Al Thani (Eddie), booked the second place on the podium and won QR6,000. 

Al Shaqab finished third in the team event and won a prize cheque for QR4,000. Team Al Shaqab was made of Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi (Fiji), Abdulrahman Adel Nassar (Dubaii) and Mohammad Hazim Abara (Cora).

Earlier, in the Small Tour contest, Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi excelled on Rosconnell Bella by completing a round against the clock in 53.43 secs with no errors on the way. Al Qadi bagged QR2,500 in prize money after winning the event ahead of Mohammed Al Ghazali who guided Michael Jackson in 56.47 to win QR2,000 and the second place. 

Fudine, with Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi in the saddle, completed the same task in 57.83 secs to book the remaining podium spot apart from a prize cheque of  QR1,500.

Today is the second and final day of the competition.
