Doha: The tenth Shopping Festival organised by Dar Al Sharq ended on December 30, 2015 and a mega raffle draw was held at Hyatt Plaza on January 7 to mark the end amid a large number of Shopping Festival participants and Hyatt Plaza patrons.
Luxury prizes worth QR2m were on offer at the raffle draw. Prizes included seven Chevrolet cars, electronic devices and home appliances by Video Home & Jumbo Electronics (LG) that included LED TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air-conditioners, DVD players, recorders and much more.
The raffle draw audience were entertained by performances by Folk-Troupe, Layaly Biladana and a magician, who brought cheer to the audience.
Ali Wahba, Advertising Manager, Dar Al Sharq, said: “It is with great pride that we present the event marking the conclusion of tenth installment of Dar Al Sharq’s shopping festival. It was very entertaining evening for everyone present. We are glad that the shopping festival was a huge success and it has reaffirmed the importance of the shopping festival in stimulating the economy.”
“The shopping festival builds a bridge between the consumer and the business, facilitating transaction in the process. We are keen on organising the festival every year at this time as we have seen how effective it is in bringing families together and its power in presenting them with happiness and joy,” Ali Wahba added.
Feroz Mohiuddin, General Manager, Hyatt Plaza, stressed about the importance of partnership between Hyatt Plaza Shopping Complex and Dar Al Sharq. He praised Dar Al Shaq leadership for organising the Shopping Festival and for its social contributions.
“It is very important that Dar Al Sharq Shopping Festival takes place every year around this time as I’ve seen how effective the festival is in boosting the economy and enriching the cultural and entertainment value of shopping for the public,” he said.
Fouad Shaqdan, Marketing and Leasing Manager – Hyatt Plaza, stressed on the need to focus on organising numerous shopping festivals that are able to compete with other international festivals and are able to attract tourists to Qatar, thus making the country a tourist destination.
The Shopping Festival, which was organised under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, started on November 14 and concluded on December 30, 2015. The Festival, organised by The Peninsula and Al Sharq newspapers, was sponsored by Al Jaidah Motors, Video Home & Jumbo Electronics (LG), and NABCO Furnishings.
A large number of companies and shops showed keen interest to be a part of the Shopping Festival, as they believed in the festival’s power to attract a large audience of consumers and shopper. The Festival also acted as a shopping and entertainment outlet for families that reside in Qatar as well as visiting tourists.
