Doha: WBC Silver Welterweight champion Amir Khan considers Qatar as a potential destination for a big fight and believes that there is a ‘75 percent’ chance the fight with Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao will take place.
“A fight over here would be amazing, there has been a lot of talk about me and Manny (Pacquiao), we are friends but sometimes friends have to fight and this would be an amazing location for it. Pacquiao is a fight I would love to have,” the 28 year-old Briton said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the AIBA World Boxing Championships here.
The British boxer confirmed that his management team are in talks with Pacquiao and was confident he would finally land a fight he has been chasing for some time.
“I have left it with my agents to look at contracts etc but it is definitely something I would want to happen,” he added.
“I think 75 per cent,” he said when asked what the chances are of any fight going ahead.
“I think this could happen.”
“If it is going to happen, it’s going to happen,” Khan said.
“Pacquiao is a fight I would like to have because styles makes fights. Me and Pacquiao used to train together as well, spar together.
“We are friends but sometimes, you know, friends have to fight each other.
“I think it can happen. It’s all about just doing the little things, contracts and stuff.
“I have left it to my team, my team are taking care of it, it’s a good fight for me.”
