The second round of the action-packed QSL Cup comes to a close when local heavyweights Al Sadd and Al Rayyan meet on a neutral turf today afternoon.
The crunch tie which will take place at the Al Khor Stadium, kicks off at 5.35pm as Al Rayyan eye their second successive win of the tournament.
Al Sadd, after suffering a shock defeat in the hands of Al Markhiya in Round one, will be targetting their first win in the tournament in today’s Group B fixture.
The game was originally scheduled for Monday, but had to be postponed twice, first to tomorrow and was then moved up by one day.
QNB Stars League Management had earlier taken a decision to push the game to tomorrow, in view of Al Sadd’s friendly against Turkish side Trabzonspor, which the Qatari side lost 1-2, on Sunday. The second was due to a request made by Al Rayyan.
Al Sadd will be keen to start their account in the competition, following last week’s 0-2 loss while Al Rayyan will look to build on their 2-0 victory over Al Ahli in their opener.
Al Markhiya, having won their Group B opener and a two-all draw against Al Arabi on Monday, are at the top of the points table, followed by Al Rayyan who collected full points against Al Ahli.
At the end of the second round, Al Kharaitiyat and Al Gharafa are at teh top of the points table in Group A, having collected full points in both of their respective matches.
Group A also include newly formed Al Duhail, Qatar SC, Al Khor and Al Sailiya.
