With just few seconds remaining for the full time whistle, Angola scored twice to shock 2015 finalists Qatar in their opening match of the IHF Handball World Championship yesterday.

The Group D match which took place at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, saw Angola registering a thrilling 24-22 win.

Angola gained an early advantage to lead 12-8 at the end of half time break.

However, Qatar finally caught up and tied the match at 17-17 in the 44th minute.

The debutants, Angola continued to trouble Al Annabi but Qatar managed to be in front in the scoreboard once again in the final few minutes of the game (22-23 in 56’).

The last minute of the match provided maximum entertainment for the spectators. Angola’s Rome Hebo equalised with just 22 seconds left. Unfortunately for Qatar, Rafael Capote’s last shot was saved by the goalkeeper and, on the fast break, Claudio Chicola was on target to give Angola their first victory of the tournament in a dramatic way in the last second of the match.
