Doha, Qatar: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) H E Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah has said  the ensuring the rights of the child is a priority for Qatar.

“Through the monitoring by NHRC on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the protocols ratified by the State, we confirm that Qatar has provided equal education and ensured that children and adolescents enjoy the highest standards of health,” said Al Attiyah.

During her participation in the discussions on children’s rights at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, she affirmed the NHRC’s commitment to continuing to raise awareness about promoting children’s rights, as well as the committee’s significant focus on raising awareness of the need to protect children’s rights in the digital environment.

Al Attiyah said, “We showed this interest by holding the third National Forum in Doha in 2024 under the theme, 'Protecting Children’s Rights in a Safe Digital Environment: Challenges and Prospects for Empowerment and Protection'. She noted that one of the recommendations from the National Forum was to train all national departments and agencies on protecting children in digital environments.

Al Attiyah added, “Based on this role, we extend our hand to cooperate with all international organisations and civil society organisations that support training in the field of child protection within digital environments to benefit from and learn from experiences.”
