Doha, Qatar: A delegation from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) recently visited the United Kingdom (UK) to gain insight into the practices and regulations followed in the field of food safety.

The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between Qatar and the UK in the field of food safety, particularly concerning organic products. It also sought to examine the regulatory framework and policies implemented by the UK in this field. The visit was made in response to an invitation from the British Embassy in Qatar.

The delegation from the MoPH was led by Wasan Al Baker, Director of the Food Safety Department at the Ministry.

During the visit, members of the delegation held meetings with representatives from British food safety authorities. These discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities related to the organic food sector, as well as a review of the UK's food product regulations. The delegation also toured several facilities to observe British practices in food inspection, the procedures for inspecting food shipments at entry points, and the standard protocols for sample collection and laboratory testing.

This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the partnership between Qatar and the United Kingdom in the field of food safety. As part of this ongoing collaboration, both sides are working towards developing policies and regulatory mechanisms that will enhance the quality and safety of food products.
