Doha: Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi enjoyed a brilliant day as he grabbed both the first and second positions in the Medium Tour as the round eight of the Hathab Equestrian Tour National series kicked off yesterday.
At the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF) indoor and outdoor Arena in New Al Rayyan, Al Rumaihi guided his seven-year-old gelding, Viking D to complete a flawless routine in 32.32 seconds to win the top prize of the day worth QR5,000.
He then guided his six-year old gelding SIEC Cosmos Wijngaardhoeve Z in a similar manner as the duo completed the task in 34.45 seconds to add QR4,000 more to his prize collection.
Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun, with Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi in the saddle, took 34.67 seconds to complete the task and joined Al Rumaihi at the podium. He won QR3,000 in prize money.
Apple Bee, ridden by Mohammed Said Haidan came fourth.
The Medium Tour points leader, Saeed Nasser al Qadi who failed to make it to the podium yesterday, finished fifth after completing the routine in 35.62 seconds astride Desperadito.
Earlier in the Small Tour Hamad Nasser Al Qadi guided his seven-year old gelding Gysmo 26 towards victory in a routine which took him 49.71 seconds to finish.
Al Qadi who is currently leading the Small Tour with impressive performances during the eight-stages completed so far, got richer by QR2,500 following yesterday’s win.
Alegro 84, with Mohammed Khalid Al Qashouti in the saddle, spent 55.42 seconds to complete the same task and won QR2,000 in prize money.
Rashid Al Amri who guided Dynamic Diablo Jaber to finish the job in 56.85 seconds, completed the podium. Al Amri won a prize cheque worth QR1,500.
Selva 4, ridden by Salman Mohammed Al Emadi and Cassanova, with Mohammed Said Haidan rounded up the top five.
Today, dressage events (Level 1 and 2) will be held in the morning and the Open Class and Big Tour events will follow later in the afternoon and evening. The QR1.1m series which was launched last year by Al Shaqab and Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) sees all top riders of Qatar taking part.
