Doha, Qatar: The Iconic Lusail International Circuit (LIC) became the center of excitement for cycling enthusiasts, as it hosted a mixed open cycling day in partnership with Qatar Cycling Federation (QCF).

The event attracted over 400 participants, offering them the unique opportunity to cycle on the track where Formula 1, MotoGP, and World Endurance Championship drivers and riders compete.

The event was split into two key sessions. From 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, participants had the chance to freely cycle around the circuit, soaking in the atmosphere of the world-class venue. At 9:00 PM, the QCF-LIC Ramadan Cycling Individual Time Trial Competition began, offering registered cyclists the chance to test their speed and skills on this iconic track.

In the Men’s Individual Time Trial, Fahed Al Khater from Qatar claimed the fastest time with a remarkable 6 minutes and 32 seconds.

He was closely followed by Abdollah Masoomi from Iran in second place and Bevan James from Great Britain in third. In the Women’s category, Daniela Sposi from Great Britain triumphed with the fastest lap, completing the course in 8 minutes and 37 seconds. Chelsea Sophia Periodico of the Philippines secured second place, while Lolwa Al Marri from Qatar finished in third.

This event marked a milestone in Qatar’s cycling scene and demonstrated the growing passion for the sport.

The Lusail International Circuit will continue its commitment to host more community events. A ladies only cycling day is also scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 from 6 PM - 10 PM. Ladies interested in participating can register at sites.google.com/view/qcfroadracing/events).
