This weekend is a grand one and we have no dearth of activities. Every nook and corner of Qatar has been lighted up. Be it Katara or Souq Waqif or Darb Al Saai, there are events scheduled for everyone. After all it’s the Qatar National Day!!!
Here are some of the major events in Doha:
Corniche: Apart from the military parade by armed forces, MOI, Emiri Guards, ISF and other security services, civilians will also showcase the history, art, heritage of the nation. Like every year, the parade would begin at 8am. And rest assured only the early birds would be able to get the best spot for a better view. There is also a spectacular musical firework scheduled to be from 8pm to 8:10pm.
Souq Waqif: Musical concerts will be held by the folk and traditional bands of Al Rayyan Radio at the Souq during evening hours between Dec 16 and 18.
Katara: Katara Esplanade will host various programs on December 18 and 19 from 10am to 10pm. The events include a military parade, horse riding, display of parachutes by institutions such as Al Gannas Society, Childhood Cultural Center, Doha Girls Center and Qatar Charity. For details, click here
Wakra Sports Club: Pakistani cultural troop from Peshawar and Lahore will perform from 4pm to 11pm on Dec 17 and 18. Apart from this there is also a National Day parade competition for schools, companies, communities (including Bangladesh community) on Dec 18 from 8am to 10:30am and 2pm to 10pm.
Asian Town: Indian and Sri Lankan communities will host cultural shows and musical performance from 4pm to 8pm followed by a Qawwali ghazal concert from 8pm to midnight. Even Asian Town will have a National Day parade competition followed by cultural shows on December 18 from 8am to 10:30am and then from 2pm to 10pm.
Al Rayyan Sports Club: Filipino, Indonesia and Malaysian communities will host cultural shows and National Day parade competition on December 18 starting from 8 am to 10:30am and then again from 2pm to 10pm.
Barwa Workers Recreation Complex: Nepalese community, along with Al Khor community will organize musical performance and other cultural shows from 4pm to 11pm on December 17. The community will also host a National Day parade competition and other sports competition on December 18 from 8am to 10:30 am and again from 2pm to 10pm.
