“Towards the Goal” mural at Katara Building 47.
Doha: Cultural Village Foundation, Katara inaugurated on Thursday the “Towards the Goal” painting by Syrian artist Muntaha Jamil Sallat.
Located at Building 47, the inauguration was led by Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti; Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Qatar, Dr. Bilal Turkiyeh; and a number of members of the diplomatic corps. Dr. Turkiyeh praised the great role played by Katara, which has become like a cultural beehive thanks to what it offers.
He affirmed the embassy’s keenness to support all artistic participations made by the Syrian community in Qatar, whether through the mural presented by the artist Muntaha Sallat, in which she expressed the challenge that Qatar faced with determination and persistence, or the artistic paintings was presented by the people of the Syrian community, on which expressions of welcome were written in more than 40 languages, indicating that the Qatar World Cup 2022 has re-shone the light towards the rich and rich Arab and Islamic culture.
Artist Sallat expressed her pleasure at the inauguration of the mural. “I have the great honour to put my fingerprint and colours on the walls of one of the buildings at the Cultural Village, Katara.”
The “Towards the Goal” mural measures 2 m x 3.5 m, and contains expressive symbols. The ball has been painted in chosen colours indicating that Doha has embraced the World Cup with generosity and good hospitality, the horse’s neighing indicating a life full of energy, beauty and culture, in addition to the painting’s inclusion of a great and noble symbol, which is the Qatari flag.
