Doha, Qatar: Al Adaam were crowned champions at the second edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Championship, held at Al Furjan Stadium in Al Thumama.
The tournament, in partnership with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, was for players aged 10 to 14 (born between 2011 and 2015). Al Adaam were awarded gold medals and a prize of QR7,000, with their team captain donning a Bisht in a tribute to the iconic moment from the 2022 World Cup final, where Lionel Messi celebrated in similar fashion.
Abdullah Hassan Al Khatib of Palestine was named the best player of the tournament.
Al Nusoor claimed second place, winning silver medals and QR5,000, while Yarmouk took third, earning bronze medals and QR3,000. Individual awards included Faisal Khalifa Al Lanjawi of Al Adaam, who was named top scorer with 8 goals and a QR500 prize, Abdullah Hassan Al Khatib of Palestine, who was honoured as the best player, and Omar Tariq Al Meer of the Southern team, who won best goalkeeper. Tariq bin Ziyad’s team was recognised with the Ideal Team Award, receiving QR2,000.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Mohammed bin Ali Al Athba, Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, and Major General Hamad Othman Al Dehaimi, Director General of Civil Defense.
The Palestine team, participating from abroad, was specially honoured for their dedication to the tournament despite logistical challenges. The tournament also celebrated its referees and sponsoring companies. Hassan Ali Al Ishaq, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed his delight at the success of the event, noting the exceptional talent on display.
“The tournament exceeded expectations, and we’re committed to making it even better in the future,” he said. “Al Adaam deserved their victory, and the competition was stronger than ever.”
Mubarak bin Fraish Al Salem, Vice Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, praised the tournament’s professionalism. He highlighted the event’s role in discovering young talent and fostering sports within the community, especially during Ramadan. “These tournaments are crucial for nurturing the next generation of athletes and align with Qatar’s Vision 2030."
