London: The United Kingdom (UK) government has pledged to provide Syria with GBP 160 million in aid.

According to a press release issued by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, the aid will provide life-saving support to millions of Syrians, including critical water, food, healthcare, and education in 2025, which will be delivered through trusted United Nations and non-governmental organization partners.

The press release further read: "The UK government has committed today to play a leading role in Syrias post-Assad recovery. Millions of Syrians are set to benefit from lifesaving aid from the UK and international partners, supporting them to rebuild their lives and stabilize the country."

In this context, Minister for the Middle East at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, Hamish Falconer, said: "A stable Syria is vital for ensuring our security at home and abroad, which is critical for delivering our Plan for Change. Todays pledge of up to GBP 160 million underlines our commitment to helping Syrians stabilize and rebuild their country, as well as provide lifesaving aid for Syrians hosted generously in partner countries."
