DOHA: Qatar’s embassies and diplomatic missions marked the National Day with a series of events yesterday. The Qatari diplomatic celebrations in world capitals drew high-level official and popular attendance, Qatar News Agency reported.
In London, Qatar’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Youssef bin Ali Al Khater held a reception ceremony at The Savoy Hotel. Tobias Ellwood, U.K. state minister for Middle East affairs, attended the ceremony along with Baroness Morris of Bolton, head of the friends of Qatar parliamentary group; Baroness Symons, chairperson of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce; Makhdum Chishty, commander of London Metropolitan Police Service; Leo Docherty, director of the Conservative Middle East Council; Chris Doyle, director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding; Neil Crompton, director Middle East and North Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO); MP James Gray; and a large number of senior officials from FCO and other ministries..
The General Consulate of Qatar in Houston in the United States of America held a reception to mark Qatar National Day. The Consul General of the State of Qatar in Houston Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Humaid gave a speech at the function. Representative of the Senate Member for the State of Texas Poker Morris and Sheila Jackson congratulated the Consul General on the occasion of Qatar National Day.
The function was attended by representatives of the State of Texas, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, members of the diplomatic corps, a number of ranking personalities, physicians, directors of energy companies, businessmen as well as presidents and representatives of universities.
The reception was also attended by a number of Qatari patients who are receiving medical treatment in Houston, employees working in the gas and oil sectors, Qatari students in Houston and Arab nationals residing in Houston.
In Bern, Qatar’s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein hosted a reception which was attended by parliamentarians, senior officials at the Foreign Ministry and representatives of Arab and foreign missions accredited to the Swiss Confederation.
In Geneva, Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations and other organizations in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab held a reception to mark Qatar National Day.
In Ottawa, Ambassador of Qatar to Canada Fahd Mohamed Youssuf Kafoud hosted a reception attended by senior official, military commanders, members of the Senate and the House of Commons and members of diplomatic missions accredited to Canada.
In Pretoria, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of South Africa Salem Abdullah Al Jaber held a reception at the Sheraton Hotel.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt Saif bin Muqaddam Al Bueinain, who is also his Qatar’s Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, has hosted a reception at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo. It was attended by Arab League Secretary General Dr Nabil Elaraby, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League Ambassador Ahmed Ben Helli, and other officials.
Qatar Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception which was attended by a host of sheikhs and officials, ministers, current and former members of parliament and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Kuwait.
In Nairobi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Kenya Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Abdullah held a reception ceremony. In Montevideo, Qatar’s Ambassador to Uruguay Mohammed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber held a reception ceremony.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Brunei Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nesf held a reception ceremony at Rizqun International Hotel. In Nicosia, Qatar’s Ambassador to Cyprus Hussein Ahmed Mohamed Al Humaid held a reception ceremony at Hilton Park Hotel. Cypriot Minister of Defence Christoforos Fokaidis attended the ceremony on behalf of the Cyprus president. In Kiev, the Ambassador of the Qatar to the Republic of Ukraine H E Jassim bin Rashid Al Khalifa has hosted a reception at the Intercontinental Hotel.
The Consul General of Qatar in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China Sultan bin Ali Al Khater has hosted a reception. In San Jose, Qatar’s embassy in Costa Rica celebrated Qatar’s National Day. Qatar’s Acting Charge d’Affaires Hamad bin Zaen Al Kuwari addressed the ceremony.
In the Australian capital of Canberra, Qatar’s embassy held a reception ceremony. Qatar’s Acting Charge d’Affaires in Bosnia and Herzegovina Abdulla Abdulhadi bin Naifa held a reception ceremony at Hotel Bristol Sarajevo.
In Islamabad, H E Saqr bin Mubarak Al Mansouri, Qatar’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan held a reception on the occasion of the National Day. The ceremony was attended gathering of elite Pakistani society.
In Stockholm, H E Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Qatar’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden, held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar. The ceremony saw the presence of many distinguished representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and government institutions.
In Guangzhou, H E Ali bin Fuhaid Ghanem Al Hajri, Consul General of the State of Qatar in the Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar at “Four Seasons” Hotel .
