Cairo: The State of Qatar took part in the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo on Wednesday.

Held at the request of the State of Palestine, the session discusses Arab and international efforts to compel Israel to halt its crimes and aggression against the Palestinian people and to comply with international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The State of Qatar's delegation to the session was headed by Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ambassador Al Ansari stated that the meeting was held in the wake of the brutal and heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians at dawn yesterday, Tuesday, during the holy month of Ramadan. He added that this crime is a continuation of the occupation forces' perpetration of genocide and crimes against humanity against the defenseless Palestinian people.

His Excellency noted that the meeting aimed to issue a resolution that incorporates the principles agreed upon in the Cairo Declaration issued by the Extraordinary Arab Summit hosted by Egypt on March 4.

He added that the draft resolution addressed the heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities arising from the legal obligations stipulated in previous resolutions. It is not only Arab countries that have this responsibility but also all countries in the world, regional organizations, and others.

He pointed out that the draft resolution also emphasized the importance of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip that was achieved through the joint efforts of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the necessity of consolidating it and implementing all its stages. The resolution also emphasizes the need for follow-up in this regard by the concerned countries and by the Arab Islamic Committee formed for this purpose.

The State of Palestine's request to hold an extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates came after Israel, the occupying power, resumed its crimes of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people at dawn yesterday. These crimes have left more than 400 martyrs and hundreds of injures in the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the occupation's cutting off of electricity to the Strip and preventing the entry of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid into it.
