Doha: The Finance Department at Abu Issa Holding organised a one-day cricket event at Qatar Cricket Ground in Lusail.
The members of the department enjoyed to event despite strong winds and dusty weather. Three teams of 11 each -- Avengers, Blasters and Challengers -- took part.
With the innings of 10 overs per side, three league games were played. The three teams played two matches with each other. Avengers won both league games, Blasters won one and Challengers lost both.
The final was held between Avengers and Blasters. Good batting, bowling and fielding skills were shown by all players. The final was reduced to seven overs each. Blasters won the toss and elected to field. Avengers scored 87 runs in seven overs. Initially, the target looked difficult but with the excellent knock from Fiham, the target score was reached by Blasters in the fifth over. Fiham scored 30 runs in the fifth over, including four sixes and a four.
At the closing ceremony, the best batsman trophy was awarded to Budhraj Vaishnav; Ifas and Nazlan got the best bowlers trophy and Jawad Ahmed, Captain of Avengers, received the runners up trophy. Hatim Hussain, Captain of Blasters, received the winner’s trophy.The Peninsula
