DOHA: A Metrash user can now have a trusted family member or personal secretary who can use this Ministry of Interior service on his behalf.
The user can now open a joint account with whoever he desires or appoints (a son, a daughter or secretary) to use the service on his behalf.
The new service can be called ‘secondary subscription’ and comes in handy for people with special needs or the elderly who find it difficult to operate Metrash on their own.
Both the user or the primary subscriber and the secondary subscriber (the interior ministry calls him the ‘co-receiver) can share transaction messages sent through the Interior Ministry’s system for online services.
This way, the primary subscriber can keep an eye on the co-receiver or the secondary subscriber.
The new system allows the primary subscriber to add another number with existing account to share the messages made through the main registered number.
A report posted on the website of the Interior Ministry, while announcing the above service, said the messages will keep updating so both (the primary and secondary subscriber) can view them.
The co-receiver can share transaction messages with more than one original number. However, the primary subscriber can add only one number to allow its messages to be shared.
The ‘co-receiver’, also known as secondary subscriber, cannot register to share messages of the primary subscriber without his permission.  The system allows only the primary subscriber to add the mobile number of the ‘co-receiver’ to share the messages with.
To avail the new service, the primary subscriber will have to log-in into Metrash and click the icon ‘additional number registration’ for Metrash.

The system will then require personal ID number and the mobile number of the primary subscriber. After filling up the required information, the system will send a one-time password to activate the service of ‘co-receiver’.  The same instruction should be followed to change or cancel the mobile number of the ‘co-receiver’.
Metrash provides almost all services that are available at the services centres of the MoI, and they include those related to traffic (issuance and renewal of driver’s licences, including the replacement of a lost driver’s licence); issuance of road permit of a vehicle, issuance of exit permit; transfer of vehicle ownership; and transfer of vehicle number plates and certificates for various purposes.
The other key services include issuance  of visit visas -- under personal and corporate sponsorships  -- follow-up of applications and approvals; enquiries and explanations about various issues such as status of application, valid visa for use, visa-related violations and used visas; visa fee payment; issuing return visas for visit; payment of fines for delays; extending visit visa validity (from inside the country) and renewing unused visit visas.
The services also include residency services such as issuance of exit permits for company-sponsored or personally-sponsored individuals;
