Doha: Minister of Youth and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali said the new law issued by Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, regulating sports clubs, serves the interests of the clubs and will reflect positively on sports in Qatar in terms of independence, development and advancement.
The Minister said the new law would enhance transparency and governance and enable Qatari youth to practice sports more efficiently, which will reflect on their ability to advance and develop sports in Qatar.
He extended thanks and appreciation to the Emir for support for the youth and sports sector, stressing that all achievements in the field resulted from this support.
The Minister also thanked Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Advisory Council Speaker and members, the President of Qatar Olympic Committee, the President of Qatar Football Association, heads of sports clubs and the work team which participated in drafting the law.
The Minister stressed that the law enables clubs to play a key role in the development of society, defines responsibilities, contributes to decision-making, and enhances the methodological work for sports clubs in accordance with strategic plans approved by the general assemblies in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He said the law activates the role of the clubs’ general assemblies and gives them powers to supervise and control sports activities independently in accordance with regulations and systems of sports federations.
The law also promotes participation of Qatari youth in the management of sports clubs, he added.
