Doha: Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) and Milaha held a series of events for their employees and families to mark the National Day.
QIB organised a traditional Qatari Ardah performance and a photography competition for its employees on Instagram, encouraging aspiring photographers to snap and display photographs depicting their love for and appreciation of Qatar.
The event also included a Qatar-inspired quotes competition.
“Qatar National day is an occasion that is close to our hearts and, for that reason, it is being celebrated by all of our employees, citizens and residents. Our event is also part of our efforts to promote interaction with the community by taking part in events and initiatives that serve the local community, reaffirming the leading role we play as part of our national contribution,” said Gamal Bassel, CEO, QIB.
Milaha, a public shareholding company  incorporated a Qatari-themed tent with a majlis that offered visual displays of Qatar’s history at the company’s headquarters in Ain Khaled.
There was also a booth for falconry, a henna painting stall, an Oud station, camel rides, and an Ardah performance. Activities were followed by a luncheon for employees.
Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman, Milaha, said: “Each year, we celebrate this special occasion and remember the everlasting words and deeds of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, who laid the cornerstone for all the prosperity and success we see in Qatar today.
“This day is also an opportunity for us to reaffirm the strong bond between the people and our wise leadership.”
