San Francisco: Pablo Sandoval homered and Tim Lincecum worked into the seventh inning as San Francisco edged visiting San Diego for the second straight game.
Lincecum (2-0) turned in his best outing of the young season, allowing four hits while striking out a season-high eight with two walks over 6 2/3 innings.
Sergio Romo worked a perfect ninth inning for his league-leading eighth save.
The Padres have lost 14 of its last 18 games at AT&T Park while the Giants improved to 8-1 when scoring first. REUTERS
