Riyadh: The Qatari youth volleyball team lost to its Syrian counterpart, 2-3, in the match that was held between them this evening as part of the competitions of the first edition of the West Asian Youth Volleyball Championship, which is currently being held in Saudi Arabia and will continue until August first, with 10 teams participating.
The Qatari team advanced in the first and second halves by /25-16, and 25-20/, then lacked behind in the third, fourth, and fifth sets by /20-25, 22-25, 11-15/.
Moreover, the Qatari national team had its first match in championship yesterday, only to lose against Palestine / 3 - 2 /.
In addition, the team will play its third match in the tournament on Monday against its Kuwaiti counterpart, to then conclude its matches in the first round against the host Saudi team on July 26.
It is noteworthy that the tournament draw grouped the Qatari team in the second group along with the teams of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Syria and Palestine, while the first group includes Iraq, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and the UAE.
