Algerian Minister of State and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra said that he was very optimistic that the outcome of last Opec meeting held in Algeria will help stabilise crude output to support oil prices
The 15th Ministerial Meeting of the International Energy Forum (IEF) held in Algeria by the end of September “created opportunity for member countries to gather for making a consensus on common ground to solve the problem. Non-Opec petroleum exporting countries also showed readiness to cooperate in this regard,” said the Minister Lamamara in a press conference held at the Algerian embassy yesterday.
“There is a will. It is needed to work out on technical aspects to convince all members to reach an agreement on the respective quota. This will be the biggest challenge we have to face in the next meeting in Vienna,” he added.“Qatar and Algeria enjoy excellent relations and it will be further strengthened in future. I visited three GCC countries, the United Arabic Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Qatar. A high level delegation from Algeria visited Saudi Arabia few weeks ago.”

A series of meetings between Algeria and Qatar are expected to be held soon. All these indicate that Algeria is making great efforts to strengthen is relations with the GCC countries. The efforts also include strengthening partnerships with all GCC states, said the Minister.
The leadership of the GCC countries and Algeria encourages investors from both sides to do more to take their partnership to new heights.
"We are coordinating with Qatar in a number of key issues. The people in Arab World are anxious over what is going on in Yemen and Syria. We (Algeria and GCC countries) are trying to make collective efforts for peace and security in the region," said Minister Lamamara.
" Algeria will never sit handcuffed at a time when the situation is getting worse in Libya and Syria. We will take all possible measures to make all parties show their strong will and wisdom for peaceful solution of the crises. Libya is sharing boarder with Algeria. Other boarder sharing countries like Egypt and Sudan should come forward to be part of the solution," he added.
