Doha: President of the Republic of Seychelles H E Wavel Ramkalawan and his accompanying delegation yesterday visited Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor, one of the stadiums that will FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Ramkalawan was accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) Hassan Al Thawadi, CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC Nasser Al Khater, and the project manager of Al Bayt stadium at the SC Mohammed Al Amin Ahmed. The President toured the stadium and was briefed on its facilities and services.
Ramkalawan said he was impressed with Qatar’s development and the preparations for hosting the World Cup 2022. He added that he expects Qatar to host an exceptional edition of the World Cup. He also praised Al Bayt stadium, saying that the fans are very close to the field, helping create a great atmosphere.
The President also said he was impressed with the Qatari national team’s preparations as they participate in the European qualifiers and hopes they give a good account of themselves in the 2022 World Cup.
President of Seychelles and his accompanying delegation also visited the National Museum of Qatar (NoMQ).
The President, who was welcomed by Director of the Trustees of the NoMQ, Sheikha Dr Haya Al Thani, toured the galleries of the museum and viewed its collections.
The President visited various exhibition halls, which include the beginning of the geological development of the Qatar Peninsula, its natural surroundings, the archeological sites and monuments in the archaeological sites, the life of the people of Qatar on land and coasts, and the digital exhibition.
He was also briefed about the pieces and collections related to pearls and jewelry design, as well as the galleries of the modern Qatari history since the discovery of oil and gas.
