Longines Hathab: Al Emadi and Al Khaldi grab honours on Day 1

Doha: Qatari riders Salman Mohammed Al Emadi and Khalifa Abdulla Al Khaldi won top honours as the second round of the Fourth Longines Hathab Equestrian Series kicked off at Qatar Equestrian Federation’s Indoor Arena yesterday.

In the day’s feature event, Al Emadi topped a field of 39 entries to corner the Medium Tour glory following a flawless ride on his reliable gelding, Zorro Z. 

The duo completed the round in 77.08 secs, and followed up with a jump off which was completed in 25.88 secs. 

Their effort was rewarded with a prize cheque worth QR7,500. 

In the meantime, Last season’s Big Tour winner, Hamad Nasser Al Qadi, clocked the second fastest time in the jump off (27.76 secs) with S I E C Lonnie as he won QR6,000 in prize money. 

LAMM Addiction Z, with Rashid Towaim Al Marri in the saddle, completed the podium with a ride that lasted 28.45 secs as he got richer by QR4,500.

Earlier, Al Khaldi rode Dusty to glory in the Small Tour, as he finished on top of a massive 54-entry field to win QR5,000. 

Al Khaldi’s 17-year-old bay mare completed the round with no errors in 27.78 secs as the Qatari rider secured his second win in as many rounds in the new Longines Hathab season.

Kannada, with Hussain Saeed Haidan in the saddle, spent 28.09 secs to complete the same task, as they finished second to win QR4,000. 

Mohammed Nasser Al Qadi finished third astride Vlacido, completing the round in 28.36 secs to win QR3,000 in the opening event of the day which offered QR20,000 in total prize money.

Meanwhile, in the Medium Tour team event, Business Trading Company (BTC) topped the standings to win QR15,000 in prize money.

The team consisted of Saeed Nasser Al Qadi (Andreas SPB Z), Hamad Nasser Al Qadi (S I E C Lonnie) and Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi (Happy Tina). Qatar Equestrian Federation team, which had the services of Prize Money QR9,000)

Rashid Towaim Al Marri (LAMM Addiction Z) and Ali Mohammed Al Marri (Apollon Du Banney), finished second and won a prize cheque for QR9,000, while Team QAF came third to win QR6,000.

Salman Mohammed Al Emadi (Zorro Z), Mohammed Abdulla Juma (Cantaro 32) and Hamad Ali Al Attiyah (Cantaro 32) were the members of the QAF team.
