DOHA: Indian expatriate group Charishma Arts is organising an essay writing contest for Malayalam-speaking community, focusing on legendary film actor Prem Naseer. The event is to be held in memory of the late actor considered one of all-time superstars in Malayalam cinema.
Naseer holds two Guinness World Records for playing the lead role in a record 725 films and playing opposite the same heroine in 130 films (with Sheela). The essay in Malayalam should not exceed five pages, the organisers said yesterday. Scanned or typed entries should be sent to [email protected] as in PDF format.
The contest is open to men and women of all ages. There will be only two winners and the prizes will be awarded at a function at Indian Cultural Center on January 16 in the presence of prominent literary figures from Kerala. The contest is being held by Charishma Arts in association with Photo Power, as part of its silver jubilee celebrations. Last date for submission of entries is January 8.
