Sheikh Joaan to be honoured as ‘CSR Person of the Year 2015’

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) will host the launch ceremony of the fourth edition of the National CSR Report (Leaders’ Visions) in March, under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
During the ceremony, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), will be honoured as the ‘CSR Person of the Year 2015’ in recognition of his significant role in supporting CSR and for being a role model inspiring the youth of Qatar.
The Premier will present the report, produced under the supervision of QU, by writing its introduction. 
The report will be distributed to all Qatari embassies all over the world through the Foreign Ministry, which is one of the partners of the report. 
Several Ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organisations and academic personalities in Qatar have provided intellectual contributions to the report.
QU, in accordance with a memorandum of understanding signed with the CSR Network, is supervising the production of the annual report on a national level. 
The report is prepared under the guidance of QU’s College of Business and Economics, with contributions from the college’s students. 
It is an academic report that documents CSR achievements of national organisations and monitors progress in social development and Qatar National Vision 2030. The report committee selects the ‘CSR Person of the Year’ from among inspiring CSR leaders. 
Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham, President, QU, said, “QU has always played a leading role in developing the CSR culture in the country. The report is one of QU’s major platforms to enhance awareness about this culture on the highest level. 
“The launch ceremony hosted by QU is one of our activities that is creating a practical communication environment between participating companies and students to identify common CSR targets and the areas students can contribute to serve the community in general.”
