Atlanta: Justin Upton hit his Major League-leading 10th homer as visiting Atlanta snapped a three-game losing streak in the opener of a doubleheader.

Evan Gattis swatted a go-ahead homer in the fourth and Dan Uggla had a two-run blast as the Braves improved to a Major League-best 14-5. The first-pitch temperature was 23 degrees, the coldest in franchise history at Coors Field.

Uggla’s two-run shot made it 3-0 in the second. The Rockies got an RBI single from Jordan Pacheco in a two-run second and tied it in the third.

Meanwhile, Darwin Barney hit his first career home run on the road to help visiting Chicago snap a four-game losing streak and even the series at a game apiece.

Barney’s blast to left lifted the Cubs after they gave up a one-run lead and wasted a tremendous outing from Carlos Villanueva. REUTERS
