Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Defense  (MoD) and Qatar Foundation (QF) have announced the merger of the Ministry’s Military Secondary School and Qatar Leadership Academy, part of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, into a unified institutional entity with shared goals and a unified vision, under the name Qatar Leadership Academy.

This strategic move strengthens the partnership between the two institutions and offers students a comprehensive educational experience that combines academic excellence with advanced military training. It reflects a shared commitment to preparing a generation of capable, future-ready leaders through an integrated learning and training environment that enables students to excel across diverse fields.

This integration will introduce new subjects, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, in the coming phase. This will align with technological advancements and meet the evolving demands of the job market. In addition, the merger establishes two independent academies — one for the preparatory level and one for the secondary level — which will each specialise in their respective stage while working together to enhance education, leadership, and military training.

This innovative model exemplifies the strategic collaboration between QF and the MoD, contributing to the development of exceptional leaders according to the highest academic, leadership, and military standards.

In the coming years, both institutions aim to expand the academy’s capacity to accommodate more students. They also seek to increase graduates’ access to top global universities and leading military institutions.

QLA is committed to the highest international educational standards, holds academic accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and maintains membership in the Council of International Schools. It also implements AERO and NGSS standards.

President of the National Service Academy, Brigadier General Salem Massoud Al Hababi said: “Over the years, the Military Secondary School has served as a model for preparing students for both academic and military success, instilling in them the values of discipline, responsibility, and leadership.” “With the merger of the Military Secondary School and Qatar Leadership Academy, we are taking a strategic step forward in evolving this model to align with the nation’s vision of preparing a new generation of academically and militarily qualified leaders,” he added.

“From our perspective, this merger is part of a bold and ambitious vision to elevate specialized military education by integrating it with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary academic framework, one that blends excellence in education with advanced military training.

General Director of Qatar Leadership Academy, Jameel Katem Al Shammari said: “This integration marks a pivotal step in the academy’s journey as we strive to provide a comprehensive learning environment that empowers our students to achieve the highest levels of academic excellence, leadership, and military discipline. QLA is moving toward a promising future, striving to establish itself as a leading educational and training institution in leadership development, adhering to the highest academic and military standards. This approach aims to achieve strategic integration that enhances the quality of education and training, equipping students with the confidence and competence to tackle future challenges.”
