Doha: Students, parents and staff at ACS Doha International School celebrated International Day on December 13 with their International Fair. ACS Doha’s annual event showcases the cultural diversity amongst its students and the wider community.
International Fair began with an opening ceremony which featured the colourful parade of nations, where 64 countries from across the globe were represented. Two students from each of the represented countries paraded on stage bearing their flags, as their fellow students cheered on from the general assembly.
Throughout the day, students then had the opportunity to visit stalls representing each nation and ‘travel across the globe’ as they toured each country, learnt about special traditions and different customs, sampled delicious, traditional food, and dressed in either National Dress or in clothing in the colours of their country’s flag.
And in a first, this year’s fair saw more than 50 student volunteers assigned to assist with countries other than their own. This allowed students to learn about other cultures and ways of life.
Steve Calland-Scoble, Head of School at ACS Doha said: “Our annual ACS Doha International Fair is a wonderful opportunity to understand more about the world around us, engage with our peers, as well as to learn more about our diverse community within the school. We are so pleased with the response that we have had from students, parents and staff alike, and are grateful for the ongoing supportive of our dynamic Parent-Student Organisation (PSO) who once again helped to make this year’s International Fair such a success.”
