Chilli Pepper Van de Helle shines in wet Doha

DOHA: Wet conditions proved no threat as Chilli Pepper Van de Helle produced a commanding routine to win competition seven at the Qatar International Show Jumping Championship.
Ridden by Saudi Arabia’s Abdulrahman Alrajhi, Chilli Pepper Van de Helle clocked a time of 60.33 seconds to win the 145cm class as heavy rain lashed the Outdoor Arena at Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) last night.
Alrajhi, a frequent visitor to Qatar for show jumping events, picked up the top prize of QR 74,500.
The star rider on Thursday night, Russia’s Vladimir Tuganov produced another memorable outing with Bluebuster, finishing second in a time of 60.77 seconds.
Tuganov, who won QR 74,500 on Thursday after Bluebuster in competition four, yesterday added QR 44,700 to his kitty.
Jordan’s Ibrahim Hani Bisharat guided Bowie Z to third spot in a time of 61.45 seconds. Bisharat picked up QR 44,700 for his efforts in pouring rain.
Qatar’s Hamad Ali Al Attiyah, astride Whitaker, finished in fourth place in a time of 61.98 seconds while Derin Demirsoy (Harry K), completed the top five in the feature competition of the day.
In competition six, Saudi rider Ramzy Hamad Al Duhami managed a well-timed run with Garlic VH Kaplhof to bag the top prize of QR 9,000. 
Garlic VH Kaplhof clocked a time of 39.33 seconds in the jump-off of 135cm class.
Al Duhami’s compatriot Naser Al Shawwaf almost ran a winner with Fulla, finishing in second spot in a time of 41.57 seconds. Al Shawwaf won QR 7,200.
Qatar’s Khalifa Al Thani paired up with Dolce Vita M to grab the third spot. Dolce Vita M clocked a time of 45.01 seconds.
Dennis (4th, Rakan Al Hasawi) and Classic Girl 22 (5th, Abdulaziz Mufhid Alhamazani) completed the top five in competition six in heavy downpour.
In competition five, Qatar’s Nasser Al Qadi sealed the deal in the 120cm jump-off class with Jessico 4, claiming the top prize of QR 5,625. Jessico 4 produced a neat routine in a time of 31.98 seconds.
Saudi rider Meshary Alhumaidi Alharbi combined beautifully with BMC White Nose to grab the second spot. BMC White Nose clocked a time of 32.56 seconds as Alharbi won QR 4,500.

Dr Thani receives replica trophy of Doha Tour

DOHA: Dr Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), yesterday received a replica of the Doha Tour Championship trophy from Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiya, President of Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF).
The trophy changed hands at the Outdoor Arena of QEF headquarters on day two of the Qatar International Show Jumping Championship currently on at the same venue. 
The Doha Tour Championship is a 4-star three-leg international show jumping competition which will take place at three different venues in Doha; the first at QEF, the second at Al Shaqab and the last leg at Katara. 
The competition will also feature a 2-star competition for the young and upcoming riders.
Top riders from the regional countries will take part in the event that will take place in April next year.
