Doha:Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Chamber announced Saturday that they will organize a tourism forum in January that aims to help owners of local tourism companies and attract foreign investors to the growing sector.
The forum will look to obtain the views of experts in the field on developing the licensing process to facilitate the procedures for investors looking to contribute to tourism in Qatar.
QTA is charge of licensing all tourism-related activities and facilities, whether its travel agencies, hotels or exhibitions. Last year, QTA issued licenses to 97 facilities. The Authority also renewed the license for another 167 facility. As for exhibition, QTA licensed 241 events, including charities.
Since the launch of Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy, Qatar Tourism Authority looked to overhaul the licensing procedures. One of the developments was reducing the time needed to issue licenses from two weeks to two days.
