Doha: The Ministry of Environment and the University of Qatar today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of research, education, development and training in environmental and agricultural fields.
The memorandum was signed by HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed bin Amir Al-Humaidi and President of Qatar University Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham with a number of officials from both sides attending.
The memorandum aims at stepping up cooperation in the field so development, education and training to find appropriate solutions to environmental challenges. It also includes the joint publication of researches, holding of meeting between experts and specialists and the study of the best means of revitalizing joint cooperation.
As per the memorandum, the two parties shall commit themselves to create a flexible environment of liaison between sectors, sections and research centres at the ministry and the university's faculties and centres.
HE the Minister of Environment said the Memorandum of Understanding aims at entering into a number of cooperation activities of mutual benefit in the field of research, development and education in matters related to environmental and agricultural fields with a view to creating a flexible environment of liaison between sectors, sections and research centres at the ministry and the university's research centres.
In a speech he gave during the memorandum's signing ceremony, HE the Minister pointed out that finding appropriate solutions to environmental and agricultural challenges could only be reached through scientific research, coordination of efforts, training of Qatar personnel and the exploitation of all available potentials between academic and government institutions.
He added that the ministry shoulders the important responsibility of care for the Qatari environment to provide it with sustainable development and maintain it for the generations to come.
